Moyra Davey was born in Toronto in 1958 and currently lives and works in New York. She earned a B.F.A. from Concordia University in Montreal in 1982 and an M.F.A. from the University of California, San Diego, in 1988. In 2004 she was awarded the Anonymous Was a Woman Award.

Davey is the author of Long Life Cool White (2008) and The Problem of Reading (2003), as well as the editor of Mother Reader: Essential Writings on Motherhood (2001).
